ABOUT US

Retired brothers have pooled their capabilities to enjoy life.  In Knoxville TN, Cirencester UK, Rochester UK and places round and about.  We want to share our ideas and techniques, theory and experiments, successes and failures.

CAPABILITIES

We started luthiery mostly using hand tools.  Then we explored what a CNC router could do. Initially inlays, then pocketed fret slots, fingerboards and tailpieces.  Next one of us built a high-accuracy, larger CNC router, and we carved the arched plates and other 3-D parts e.g. bridges.   It’s a rewarding challenge.

Clocks

Initial efforts  to CNC-machine archtop plates produced some "imperfect" results, mostly attributed to being too thin (measure carefully!) or wood bouce (go slower).  But all is not lost.....
