A thin top

A back

A thicker top

Note this top is thinner than the one below: The central depth is 4.8 mm and it is thinner out by the f-holes. The edge is 4.8 mm. Details are in the notes.

This is a standard back with uniform thickness of 4.8 mm.

Topthick3D.stl: A 3D CAD file of a 17 inch top to import into Aspire.

This top is thicker than the other Top3D.stl file above. It has a central depth of 6.4 mm, decreasing radially and uniformly to 4.8 mm at the edge.

In the picture: We don’t know what this wood is. A softwood with 24 lines per inch (very high), from a tree ~150 years old. It looks like spruce, with measured density = 419 kG/m^3. It has a remarkable Young's modulus E = 14900 GPa, as measured by bending a strip. Usually these two numbers and a bit of guesswork will narrow down the species, but not here. See the notes.

Backthick3D.stl. Here is a thicker back. The edge is the same as the standard (4.8 mm) but from contour S1 inwards the thickness is increased by 1 mm (to 5.8 mm)
